Austerity, employment and welfare regime in Portugal: in a process of refamilisation?
This paper assumes that the crisis is not neutral, having different impacts on the living conditions of women and men. We analyse the impacts of the crisis and of the measures taken to tackle it by the 18th and 19th Constitutional Governments since 2009. We analyse as well its complex and differentiated effects on individual, social and economic situation of women and men in Portugal. The paper explores how the changes occurred in employment and associated social protection conditions determine a generalization of job precariousness to both sexes, and significant losses of autonomy for women, refamilisation of care and a significant risk of return to an unequal and unbalanced past. Keywords
