Maré de Mulheres: Reflections on Justice for Women in Violence Situations in a Carioca Favela

The present study aims to reflect on strategies for facing domestic and family violence against women, based on a research carried out at the Reference Center for Women’s Care in the Maré complex of favelas in Rio de Janeiro. Through the vision of professionals who work there, we intend to demonstrate the profile of women who seek the service, the perceptions about violence, the main difficulties regarding access to official Justice and alternative methodologies to the Penal System.
