Silences in the feminine in the Boletim da Agência Geral das Colónias/do Ultramar

This article focuses on the “silences of the feminine” in the Boletim da Agência Geral das Colónias [Bulletin of the General Agency of the Colonies/Overseas], that is, on the (almost complete) absence of women as writers in the pages of such an important vehicle of the colonial press. I intend to analyze and evaluate the reasons for this absence, beginning with the principle that silences should be recovered for a better understanding of Portuguese colonial history.
