Women’s, Gender and Feminist Studies in Portugal: A comparative bibliometric analysis between Web of Science and Scopus (1995-2021)

In this article, we compare the results of two bibliometric analyses of Portuguese publications between 1995 and 2021 in the field of Women’s, Gender and Feminist Studies (WGFS), indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. In the analysis, we highlight the differences and convergences between the two databases, in order to reveal the general trends that have marked the Portuguese production in WGFS published over nearly three decades, and to contribute to the critical scrutiny of both platforms, from the point of view of the precautions to be taken when reading the data they provide. We conclude that some characteristics of Scopus give it a relative advantage over WoS when it comes to portraying the production of WGFS in Portugal.
