‘I Feel Like... Deconstructed’: Masculinities and Gender Equality in the Spanish Series Machos Alfa (Netflix: 2022-)

New models of masculinity that challenge prevailing patterns have gained significant momentum in contemporary discourse, developing in social debates and even in courses and workshops for men. In a context where men receive contradictory messages between hegemonic and dissident forms, self-questioning of identity is encouraged. From a gender studies perspective, this article examines the male stereotypes represented in the Spanish series Machos Alfa (Netflix: 2022-). Through a textual analysis of the characters, it also explores issues that are central to the male identity crisis, such as homosociability, social class, spaces, romantic relationships and family.
